Great Dunmow is an attractive historic country town just off the A120 about 6 miles east of Stansted Airport. It is especially famous for the Dunmow Flitch trials which originate from the 12th Century and have been held regularly since 1855.  The trials are held every four years and consist of married couples competing to win a side of bacon by proving that they have not quarrelled for a whole year!
 

Great Dunmow boasts a traditional high street which is populated by an interesting selection of independently owned shops. There is also a museum and a variety of places to eat and drink so why not come and spend a relaxing shopping trip or break in this picturesque part of North Essex..
